A Woman Scorned: The Betty Broderick Story is one of those films that grabs you from the very beginning and refuses to let go. It’s emotional, messy, intense, and honestly hard to look away from. What makes it so powerful is how human it feels—you’re not just watching a true crime story, you’re watching a woman unravel piece by piece, and it’s impossible not to get pulled into her world.
Meredith Baxter delivers a career-defining performance. She is chilling, heartbreaking, and so convincing that you forget you’re watching a movie. The way she portrays Betty’s pain, her rage, and her desperation feels raw and real. You can see every crack forming long before the explosion happens, and that slow build is what makes the story hit so hard.
The movie does an amazing job showing how a marriage can decay over time—how small hurts pile up, how betrayal can twist someone’s mind, and how love can turn into something dangerous. It doesn’t shy away from the uncomfortable moments either. You see the emotional manipulation, the gaslighting, the abandonment, all the things that pushed her to that breaking point.
The pacing, the acting, the storytelling—it all comes together perfectly. It’s gripping, unsettling, and honestly unforgettable. If you like true crime stories that explore the emotional side of tragedy, this one is absolutely worth the watch.
5 out of 5 from me.
